Insurance guidance

Cover and credit are connected more closely than most people realise. A long loan is a commitment that outlives a job, an illness or worse, and the question of what happens to that liability if your income stops is one worth answering before you sign, not after. Suvidhan offers straightforward guidance on life and health cover alongside our loan assistance.

Why insurance comes up in a loan conversation

When you take on a twenty-year home loan, you are committing a share of your future income for two decades. Term life cover at least equal to the outstanding loan means the debt does not become your family's problem if you are not there. Health cover matters for a different reason: an uninsured hospital bill is one of the most common ways a household with a clean repayment record ends up missing EMIs.

None of this makes insurance compulsory. Lenders sometimes bundle a policy with a loan — you are entitled to ask whether it is optional and to compare it against buying cover independently, which is frequently cheaper.

The two areas we cover

Life insurance guidance

How term cover differs from investment-linked policies, how much cover is sensible relative to your income and liabilities, what affects the premium, and why buying earlier costs less. Read more on our life insurance guidance page.

Health insurance guidance

What sum insured actually means, how waiting periods work for pre-existing conditions, the difference between an individual policy and a family floater, room rent limits and co-payment clauses, and what to check in the fine print before you buy. Read more on our health insurance guidance page.

What to check before buying any policy

  • What is excluded. The exclusions matter more than the headline benefits.
  • Waiting periods for pre-existing conditions and for specific treatments.
  • Whether the sum insured is realistic against what treatment actually costs in your city today.
  • The claim process and the insurer's record of settling claims.
  • Whether the premium is sustainable for the full term — a policy you stop paying protects nobody.
  • Whether cover bundled with a loan is optional, and how it compares with buying separately.

How Suvidhan helps

We explain the options in plain language and help you work out what level of cover makes sense alongside your borrowing. We are not an insurer and we do not underwrite policies. What we offer is guidance, so that you understand what you are buying before you buy it.

Insurance is a contract with the insurer, and the terms of the policy document govern. Nothing on this page is a recommendation of a specific product or a statement about any insurer's terms. Read the policy wording, and ask us anything that is not clear.
